Mdina from afar in Malta

In my head this was a brilliant picture, of not the best. In fact I saw this picture time and time again as I went from one place to another and I even thought that there was only on time of the day that this pic could be taken.

Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t stalk Mdina and plan this in an out and in fact when I say I knew the time of day, that really is a matter of hours, It could not be in the afternoon when the sun was behind and so the front was in shadow. Even so, I think the photo isn’t as good as it was in my head and that’s probably because we all subconsciously edit out vision. We forget the bushes in the foreground and we see the expanse of our near 180 degree vision and this fits. Forget that the eye then adds detail and contrast that isn’t here as in our eye/brain combo is the ultimate HDR, and forget that in the moment you’re probably on holiday so anything is probably the best ever because you’re not at work.

Still I’m disappointed that this isn’t the picture that it should have been. In fact hold on, let me tweak it a bit….

It’s better, but I’m not sure it’s 100% perfect as I imigined it, but then again, I’m not sure that will ever be the case.
